Recap: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans vs. Horizon Honors Eagles

After flying high against the Trivium Prep Crimson Knights last Tuesday, the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans came back down to earth. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy took a hard 48-29 fall against Horizon Honors on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy in their matchups with Horizon Honors: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the defeat, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy saw an underclassman step up: Maeve Morgan scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. Morgan scored a full 34.5% of Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sarah Hurley was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Horizon Honors racked up 14.

Horizon Honors' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audriana Anglada, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds. The game was Anglada's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Barden, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Horizon Honors, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Desert Christian the next time they take the court. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will head out to face Desert Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Horizon Honors will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
