Softball Game Preview: Agawam Brownies vs. Hampshire Regional Raiders

Agawam hasn't had much luck against Hampshire Regional recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Brownies will be playing at home against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Agawam and East Longmeadow, and Agawam kept the tradition alive. The Brownies came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 8-5 on Wednesday.

Agawam saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Oliveira, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Agawam hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Longmeadow struck out six times.

Meanwhile, Hampshire Regional took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Frontier Regional, sneaking past 6-4. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Caelyn Thayor, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kalin Dubay4, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
