Baseball Game Preview: Overlake Owls vs. Vashon Island Pirates

The Overlake Owls will square off against the Vashon Island Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vashon Island took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Overlake, who comes in off a win.

Overlake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Bellevue Christian by a score of 3-0.

Meanwhile, Vashon Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Seattle Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pirates have suffered against the Warriors since May 5, 2021.

Charlie Walker was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Overlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Vashon Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
