Volleyball Recap: John Paul II's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

After a string of eight wins, John Paul II's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Antonian Prep Apaches by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.

John Paul II actually scored more points across those three sets (59-56), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-22, 15-12.

John Paul II's loss came despite strong showings from Summer Hodge and Lucy Schwabauer. Hodge had 15 digs and one assist, while Schwabauer had four digs, two aces, and one block. Schwabauer has been hot for a while, having also posted 12 or more assists the last 41 times she's played.

Camilla Serna was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 18 assists.

John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 26-10. As for Antonian Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-12 record this season.

John Paul II will head out on the road to challenge Prestonwood Christian at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Antonian Prep, they will be taking part in a tournament against Westminster Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
