Hammond Morton scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Merrillville Pirates. The defeat leaves the Governors without a win on the season.

Merrillville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Jones out in front who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Dilosa, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Hammond Morton's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Merrillville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Hammond Morton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-55 win against Bowman Academy on the 13th. As for Merrillville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-68 defeat against Andrean on the 14th.
