Softball Recap: Chatham Cavaliers vs. Patrick County Cougars
If Chatham was riding high fresh off their 16-0 takedown of William Campbell last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Patrick County Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Cavaliers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 2-1.
Corra Liggon was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Liggon wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kayleigh Harmon, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
