Football Game Preview: Lamesa Tornadoes vs. Brownfield Cubs

The Lamesa Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Brownfield Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamesa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Brownfield likes a good challenge.

Lamesa's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Kermit to the tune of 49-0. The win continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won three in a row.

Daniel Ramos had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 429 yards and five TDs. Those 429 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Deev Lugo was Ramos' top target, picking up 58 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 42 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Brownfield had to suffer through a 54-12 loss at the hands of Denver City.

Brownfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Lamesa, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Lamesa against Brownfield when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-8 win. In that game, the Tornadoes amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
