Softball Recap: Largo Packers vs. Tarpon Springs Spongers
In what's become a running theme this season, Largo gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Tarpon Springs Spongers as the Largo Packers made off with a 13-7 win. The victory was just what Largo needed coming off of a 14-4 loss in their prior match.
Paige Sofge spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Largo got a massive performance out of Miranda Rollins, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Rollins has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Lacy Smithson was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
On Tarpon Springs' side, Kaylen McLaughlin and Michelle Rimel stepped up to the plate in a big way. McLaughlin scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Rimel scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Viegut, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
