Basketball Recap: Tyler Zitar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Claremont over Diamond Bar

Claremont was the 78-60 winner over Diamond Bar when they last played one another back in February of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Claremont Wolfpack took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Diamond Bar Brahmas on Thursday. The Wolfpack just can't catch a break and have now endured seven losses in a row.

Claremont's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Zitar, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, Zitar is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Xatruch, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 17 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Claremont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Claremont's record now sits at 9-13. As for Diamond Bar, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-13.

Claremont will face off against Mary Star of the Sea at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Diamond Bar, they will square off against Fairmont Prep at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
