Baseball Recap: CSTHEA Drops Highest Score of Season Against Whitwell

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask CSTHEA). Everything went their way against the Whitwell Tigers on Thursday as the CSTHEA Patriots made off with a 19-7 victory. With that win, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Deklan Burgess was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Burgess was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Pierse Jackson was a standout: he scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-6. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Caiden Rebel, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

CSTHEA was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

CSTHEA's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4. As for Whitwell, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. CSTHEA will venture away from home to challenge Rocket City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. CSTHEA will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Whitwell, they are taking a road trip to square off against Grundy County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
