Basketball Recap: McCollum Comes Up Short

McCollum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Jay Mustangs, falling 98-66. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 41st).

Jay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Camrin Garza out in front who dropped a triple-double on 32 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. Garza continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jaiden Guillen was another key player, going 11 of 20 to rack up 30 points.

McCollum's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Jay, they pushed their record up to 30-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCollum will challenge MacArthur at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jay, they will face off against Southside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
