Baseball Recap: Dade Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against American last Thursday, Dade Christian came back down to earth. The Dade Christian Warriors fell just short of the Brito Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Leodan Rodriguez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dade Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Alexander Mendoza Jr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adrian Lara, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Dade Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Brito, they moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Dade Christian will welcome Schoolhouse Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Schoolhouse Prep will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Dade Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brito, they will head out to challenge TERRA Environmental at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Brito has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
