Point Loma put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down the San Diego Cavers 31-13. Given the Pointers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Cavers are ranked 292nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Point Loma's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Watson, who threw for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards and one score.

Point Loma's run defense was locked in: San Diego could only muster 1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Braeden Bartocci for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Point Loma; they were averaging 6.9yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 4.8 per game.

Point Loma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Owen Ice and Ryan Cleator. Another thorn in San Diego's side was Bartocci, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Point Loma's record now sits at 6-0. As for San Diego, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Point Loma will be playing in front of their home fans against Cathedral Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Pointers 9, the Dons 13.4) so any points scored will be well earned. As for San Diego, they are taking a road trip to face off against St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
