Baseball Recap: Caledonia Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Caledonia extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 13-9. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Lafayette Commodores. That's two games straight that the Cavaliers have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Reid Garrett, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Trevor Dennis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Caledonia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Lafayette, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-8. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

On Lafayette's side, they got a good showing from Brett Williams, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Collin Waldrip made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Guest, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Caledonia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 victory against Itawamba Agricultural on the 11th. As for Lafayette, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-4 win against Pontotoc on the 14th.
