Baseball Game Preview: William Allen Canaries vs. Whitehall Zephyrs

William Allen is 1-9 against Whitehall since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Canaries will welcome the Zephyrs at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

William Allen is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Louis E. Dieruff on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Canaries have suffered against the Huskies since April 6, 2021.

Yassine Zekkaria was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, William Allen saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joel Chacon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Davien Orozco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Whitehall suffered their closest defeat since May 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Bethlehem Catholic by a score of 9-7. The Zephyrs haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Whitehall also got a good showing from Bradley Kibler, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Kibler gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

Whitehall now has a losing record of 2-3. As for William Allen, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

William Allen beat Whitehall 9-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Canaries repeat their success, or do the Zephyrs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
