Basketball Recap: Kylee Moscove and Mya Ghisletta Secure Win for Damonte Ranch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Reed, Damonte Ranch was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-42 win over the Carson Senators. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-50 on January 3rd.

Damonte Ranch was led to victory by Mya Ghisletta and Kylee Moscove. Ghisletta dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards, while Moscove posted 15 points. Ghisletta is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was A?Laya Washington, who scored four points and 15 rebounds.

Damonte Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Carson lost, don't look at Lauren Finnerty. Despite the final result, she had 15 points. That was a full 35.7% of Carson's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory snapped Damonte Ranch's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-16 record. As for Carson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Damonte Ranch and Carson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings. Damonte Ranch (ranked 46th) will meet Reno (ranked fifth) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Carson will take on Reed at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday down 36 places (44 vs. 8).
