League recap: Ragland tops Meek to extend winning streak

Ragland extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 6 this week by beating Meek, 41-6. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Addison moved up to 280 from 311 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to make the jump by topping Sumiton Christian 47-7.

Shades Mountain Christian's dynamic duo of Mikey Rogers and Mitchell Anderson proved tough for Coosa Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rogers threw for 187 yards and one touchdown and Anderson had 91 yards receiving. Stephen Reeves helped Shades Mountain Christian's passing attack out by catching four balls for 36 yards.

Christian Morrow was the most productive running back in the league this week. In eight carries, he ran for 126 yards as Ragland lost to the Conquerors. Devane Brewster also contributed to the rushing game with 108 yards on the ground.

6-foot-1 quarterback Rogers of Shades Mountain Christian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 639. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, Falkville's Hunter Woodall has rushed for 899 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jimmy Brock. The Ragland star has nine catches for 259 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Addison takes on the Blue Devils. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in third, while Falkville is in second.

Appalachian led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Southeastern.
