Baseball Game Preview: Piqua Indians vs. Stebbins Indians

Piqua has gone a perfect 10-0 against Stebbins recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Piqua will square off against Stebbins at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Piqua has three straight victories, Stebbins has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Piqua barely beat West Carrollton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 9-0 win on Wednesday. The Indians not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 10-0).

The result came thanks to Hunter Steinke's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cohen Brown, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jerry Anthony was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Stebbins' offense. They lost 10-0 to Sidney on Thursday.

Piqua's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Stebbins, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Piqua took their win against Stebbins in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Does Piqua have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stebbins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
