Baseball Recap: Cathedral's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Cathedral can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals as they made off with an 18-4 win. The Phantoms not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 22-1).

Joshua Esparza looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Esteban Santos was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Matthew Borquez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Cathedral lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cathedral's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Cathedral will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
