Recap: Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans vs. Lewistown Indians
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Indians on the road and fell 61-27. While losing is never fun, Bushnell-Prairie City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 637th, while Lewistown is ranked 293rd).
It was another big night for Lexi Kruzan, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for Lewistown. Kruzan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Wiegand, who scored six points along with six steals.
Bushnell-Prairie City dropped their record down to 1-27 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.7 points per game. As for Lewistown, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-13.
Bushnell-Prairie City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lewistown, they will square off against Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
