Basketball Recap: Northern Nash Comes Up Short

Northern Nash was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Shaniah Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds for Roanoke Rapids. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofie Wade, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Northern Nash's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Roanoke Rapids, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4.

Northern Nash will be playing at home against Nash Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roanoke Rapids, they will head out on the road to take on Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocky Mount is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.
