After a string of five wins, Highland's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Buckeye Valley Barons by a score of 10-8. The Fighting Scots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Barons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Saylor Squires and Braylin Romshak did some serious damage despite the final result: Squires scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Romshak scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Stuckman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Highland's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Buckeye Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Coming up, Highland is taking a road trip to challenge Shelby at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Buckeye Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bexley at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Barons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
