Baseball Recap: Metea Valley Wins Going Away Against Clemente

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oswego East, Metea Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Clemente Wildcats 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Metea Valley let Jonah Maldonado and Connor Lavery run wild. Maldonado scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Lavery scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave Lavery a new career-high. Armaan Shah also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Metea Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clemente only posted a batting average of .235.

Metea Valley's record now sits at 8-3. As for Clemente, they moved to 4-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Metea Valley will head out on the road to square off against Wheaton North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clemente, they will be playing at home against Lake View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
