Basketball Game Preview: Indian Lake Central Indians vs. Johnsburg Central Jaguars

Indian Lake Central and Johnsburg Central are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Indian Lake Central Indians will head out to square off against the Johnsburg Central Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Indian Lake Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Indian Lake Central is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Wells on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Indian Lake Central was dealt a 76-46 loss at the hands of Wells. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 780th, while the Wells CSD are ranked 387th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 85-53, which was the final score in Johnsburg Central's tilt against Wells on Tuesday. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Liam McKinney posted 20 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Sauer-Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards.

Johnsburg Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Indian Lake Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Indian Lake Central strolled past Johnsburg Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 56-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Indian Lake Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
