Softball Recap: Hillsboro Takes a Loss

Hillsboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bangor Cardinals. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Elizabeth Cairns was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelyn Hansen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hillsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Bangor, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hillsboro is set to face off against their familiar foe New Lisbon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bangor will challenge rival Brookwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
