Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Camp Verde). They were the clear victors by a 30-2 margin over Tempe Prep on Wednesday. With that victory, the Cowboys brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Like Glendale Prep Academy, Camp Verde also got a great game from a two-way player: Brayden Sapp. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Sapp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Haygen Armstrong and Clancy Murdock did most of the damage at the plate: Armstrong scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Murdock got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. What's more, Murdock posted three hits, the most she's had over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Mariah Munoz, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Camp Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Camp Verde has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Glendale Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Glendale Prep Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .580. However, it's not like Camp Verde struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
