Basketball Recap: Baylie Mecham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Firth over West Jefferson

Firth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Jefferson Panthers. The Cougars were probably out for revenge after losing 51-43 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Firth's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baylie Mecham, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelbie Perry, who put up ten points.

Firth now has a losing record at 7-8. As for West Jefferson, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Firth has already played their next matchup (against Salmon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. West Jefferson is taking a road trip to square off against Ririe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Jefferson will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
