Basketball Recap: Sheffield Takes a Loss

Sheffield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Fairley Bulldogs, falling 85-24. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 67th).

Brandon Chatman was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 en route to 25 points in addition to eight boards and five steals for Fairley. The team also got some help courtesy of Alarin Polk, who posted ten points along with five assists and three steals.

Sheffield's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Fairley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Sheffield and Bluff City will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Sheffield is facing Bluff City at the right time seeing as Bluff City is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Fairley, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mitchell at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
