Softball Recap: Harrison Comes Up Short

Harrison extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-15. They lost 16-1 to the Pinconning Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 on Thursday.

As for Pinconning, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Pinconning, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Pinconning's part, Ella Hunter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hunter was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Layla Foco was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emily Breza, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Harrison will head out to challenge Beaverton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pinconning, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garber at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dukes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
