Baseball Recap: Chardon Gets the Win

Chardon and Kenston pushed the score to 15-5 the last time they played Kenston, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Hilltoppers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bombers, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their matchups with the Bombers: they've now won four in a row.

Tim Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. Chardon is 4-2 when Robertson allows two or fewer earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stone Fawcett, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

The win got Chardon back to even at 9-9. As for Kenston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Chardon will welcome St. Vincent-St. Mary at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Kenston, they will challenge Aurora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
