Baseball Game Preview: Ocean Lakes Dolphins vs. First Colonial Patriots

Ocean Lakes has won five straight games at home, while First Colonial has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Dolphins will host the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ocean Lakes 3.3, First Colonial 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Ocean Lakes' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Green Run. Considering the Dolphins have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ocean Lakes got a great performance from Aiden Skalski as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Skalski has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Ryan Gocio was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Ben Menenses was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, First Colonial was able to grind out a solid victory over Tallwood on Thursday, taking the game 6-1.

Ocean Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for First Colonial, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
