Preview: Davis Spartans vs. Ceres Bulldogs
The Davis Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ceres Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ceres took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Davis, who comes in off a win.
Davis fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 27-14 win over Johansen on Friday.
Izzy Sanchez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 193 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Olvera Deanda, who picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ceres suffered a tough 31-9 defeat at the hands of Mountain House on Friday. Ceres has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Davis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season. As for Ceres, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Davis has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Ceres, though, as they've been averaging only 87.4 per game. How will Ceres fare against such a dominant running game?
Davis was dealt a bruising 36-0 defeat at the hands of Ceres when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Davis, Tarrell Lee-gill (who rushed for 235 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
