Softball Game Preview: Saratoga Central Catholic Saints vs. Hoosic Valley Hawks

The Saratoga Central Catholic Saints will square off against the Hoosic Valley Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Saratoga Central Catholic came up short against Tamarac on Friday, falling 10-3. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Bengals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Allison Fuller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Hoosic Valley's offense. They lost 20-0 to Mechanicville on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hoosic Valley has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Saratoga Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Hoosic Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Saratoga Central Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Hoosic Valley, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Saratoga Central Catholic's sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
