Softball Recap: Carver A&T Takes a Loss

Notre Dame Prep hit Carver A&T with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against Notre Dame Prep, falling 17-6.

Maya Einolf was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haleigh Frye, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Carver A&T has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Notre Dame Prep, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver A&T will take on Sparrows Point at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pointers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Notre Dame Prep, they will challenge John Carroll at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Notre Dame Prep's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
