Baseball Game Preview: Phoenix Pirates vs. Mazama Vikings

The Phoenix Pirates will square off against the Mazama Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phoenix is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Henley hit Phoenix with a four-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Mazama sidestepped Modoc for a 7-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

The team relied heavily on Devyn Lobdell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jonny Ladner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Mazama's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Phoenix, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Phoenix was able to grind out a solid victory over Mazama in their previous meeting last Friday, winning 5-1. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
