Preview: Melrose Golden Wildcats vs. Dyer County Choctaws
The Melrose Golden Wildcats will be playing at home against the Dyer County Choctaws at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Melrose's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Melrose had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-6 win over Obion County. The result was nothing new for Melrose, who have now won seven contests by 32 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Rhyan Brown, who rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Another player making a difference was William Carver, who gained 136 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Dyer County blew past Craigmont, posting a 40-6 win at home. The win was just what Dyer County needed coming off of a 51-21 loss in their prior matchup.
Melrose has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.2 points per game. As for Dyer County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
