Baseball Recap: King City Mustangs vs. Pajaro Valley Grizzlies

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Everett Alvarez, King City was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies as King City made off with a 16-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

JC Navarro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Pina, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jason Moreno, who scored a run while going 3-for-6.

King City's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Pajaro Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

King City will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pajaro Valley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
