Baseball Game Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. Campolindo Cougars

The Acalanes Dons will challenge the Campolindo Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Acalanes hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Acalanes took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Alhambra a 1-0 shutout.

Acalanes got a great performance from Branson Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run over 8.1 innings pitched. What's more, Smith posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Acalanes saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Goddard, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, Campolindo fell victim to Benicia and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since May 25, 2024.

Campolindo also got a good showing from Dom Caruso, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

This is the second loss in a row for Campolindo and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Acalanes, their win bumped their record up to 11-5-1.
