Basketball Recap: Blake Rooks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Junction Central over Durango

Grand Junction Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 62-38 to the Durango Demons. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Demons are ranked 80th).

Grand Junction Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Rooks, who posted six points along with ten boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Rooks is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Tabora, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points.

Grand Junction Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Durango, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Grand Junction Central will welcome Fruita Monument at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fruita Monument is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Durango, they will head out to take on Montrose at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
