Basketball Recap: Belvidere Comes Up Short

Belvidere lost against Hononegah back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Belvidere Bucs took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hononegah Indians. The Bucs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Belvidere lost, don't look at Emma Pierson. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points and seven steals. The game was Pierson's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Arianna Labeau, who went 8-for-18 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals.

Belvidere's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Hononegah, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-11.

Belvidere wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-54 defeat against Harlem on the 8th. As for Hononegah, they have also already played their next contest, a 45-35 loss against Hersey on the 8th.
