Volleyball Recap: Classical Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Gavin Spiess and Joshua Marion

Classical Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Granite Hills on Saturday. Classical Academy fell just short of Granite Hills by a score of 2-1. The Caimans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Classical Academy had strong showings from Joshua Marion, who had three digs and one block, and Gavin Spiess, who had 11 digs and two aces. Marion has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last ten times he's played. AJ Ransweiler also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Leading Granite Hills to victory were Tristan McDaniel and Noah Guillermo. McDaniel had 30 assists and six digs, while Guillermo had eight digs. Those eight digs gave Guillermo a new career-high.

Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Granite Hills, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Vista Murrieta on the 22nd. As for Granite Hills, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against St. Augustine on the 22nd.
