The Gibson County Pioneers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Millington Central Trojans on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Trojans 66-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millington Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayshaun Dye, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Dye's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jyshawn Anderson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Gibson County and nudges their season record down to 4-5. As for Millington Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Gibson County will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Crockett County at 7:30 p.m. Crockett County is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Millington Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Westview at 8:30 p.m. on December 29th.
