Softball Recap: Asheville Comes Up Short

Asheville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to the Mitchell Mountaineers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 last Tuesday.

Camila Wyda Wyda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Soren Cox was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Asheville's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mitchell, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Asheville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 21-0 defeat against Erwin on the 14th. As for Mitchell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-3 win against University School on the 14th.
