Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Pirates vs. San Augustine Wolves

The Martinsville Pirates and the San Augustine Wolves will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Martinsville will head into Thursday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 54) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Joaquin 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since November 21, 2023.

Meanwhile, San Augustine had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over the Rams. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

San Augustine's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Martinsville, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Martinsville was able to grind out a solid victory over San Augustine in their previous meeting back in November, winning 53-44. Will Martinsville repeat their success, or does San Augustine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
