Baseball Recap: Florence Victorious

Florence never let their opponents score on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Desert Christian Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Gophers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wyatt Stenson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Florence: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Adrian Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Florence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.

Florence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Florence has already played their next game, a 3-3 tie against Williams on the 12th. As for Desert Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-7 win against Valley Union on the 12th.
