Delbarton dropped their record down to 6-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 8-5 to the Gloucester Catholic Rams. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Gloucester Catholic, the win keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

For Gloucester Catholic's part, Jackson Smallets spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. Smallets has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Guy Lynam, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Braeden Lipoff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Delbarton and Gloucester Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Green Wave will square off against Randolph at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (9 vs. 146). Meanwhile, Gloucester Catholic (ranked second) will meet Washington Township (ranked 181st) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
