Baseball Game Preview: Clover Blue Eagles vs. Northwestern Trojans

For the second straight game, Clover will face off against Northwestern. Clover will be playing at home against Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Clover will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

While Clover didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Northwestern by a score of 9-5 on Monday.

Anthony Marano was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Briggs Lessmiester, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Clover is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 8.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.67 in the others. Northwestern is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
