Baseball Recap: Trigg County Drops Season-High Score on Fort Campbell

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trigg County). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fort Campbell Falcons a 16-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the match before.

Ty Gootee looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Trigg County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Aaden Allen was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Haydon Reynolds was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Trigg County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Trigg County back to even at 8-8. As for Fort Campbell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trigg County will face off against Livingston Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Campbell, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against University Heights at 5:30 p.m. The Blazers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
