Baseball Recap: Southern Lee Victorious

While Southern Lee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the South View Tigers by a score of 9-4 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Ben Harrington was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Harrington was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Bryan McCollum was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Michael Blanks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Southern Lee's record is now 4-1. As for South View, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Southern Lee will head out to challenge Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Southern Lee 3.4, Scotland 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for South View, they will host Lumberton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
