Softball Recap: Gordonsville Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Gordonsville entered their tilt with Smyrna on Monday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 28th.

Kailey Plumlee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Plumlee wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kat Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Gordonsville pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their 27th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Smyrna, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.

Gordonsville and Smyrna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Tigers will take on Smith County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (20 vs. 177). Meanwhile, Smyrna (ranked 16th) will meet LaVergne (ranked 287th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
